Hideyuki Sato-san is a third-generation koujin: from cutting the wood to turning, painting and distribution, he masters every step without division of labour. It is one of the few family workshops in Tōhoku where four members work together at the lathe.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis Kokeshi shows a large, round head on a slender, cylindrical body with a slightly flared base. The body is completely covered with horizontal Rokuro-Moyo bands in red, green and black: precise and dense, built up layer by layer on the lathe. The base glows in warm ochre.
