Irodori Kokeshi No. 2 | One of a Kind

Wagatsuma Noboru paints with fire. Not as metaphor — the colours of this Kokeshi burn: deep orange, flowing red, gold-yellow pulling in long arcs across the surface. The floral pattern follows no symmetry. It grows.
The form is classical: slender column, round head, porcelain-white surface of bleached Mizuki wood. What Wagatsuma-san places on it speaks a different language. Traditional motifs, but in motion — as if wind were passing through them.
Hand-turned. Hand-painted. No two identical — that's not tolerance, that's intention.
