The Ejiko form carries history you feel before you understand it. Round, compact, self-contained — it traces back to the wooden cradle vessels of Japan's Tōhoku region, where infants were nestled while their mothers worked the fields. Protection as function. Safety as shape.
Wagatsuma Noboru holds that stillness and breaks it open. Deep violet against porcelain-white Mizuki wood. Floral motifs in sumi ink and pigment — placed with precision, never decorative for their own sake. The face: closed, calm, fully resolved.
Hand-turned. Hand-painted. No two pieces are alike — that's not tolerance, that's intention.
- Height: approx. 9 cm
- Wood: Mizuki (dogwood)
- Materials: dyes, pigments, sumi ink
- Origin: Japan
- Handmade, One of a Kind
