Blindfold. Daruma. Open question.
Wagatsuma-san's Tsubaki No. 15 is the most enigmatic Kokeshi in the series. The Tama-ire figure wears a blindfold – an unusual element in the Kokeshi tradition. A small child's face crowns the top; floral motifs in blue and black rise upwards through all segments.
Wagatsuma-san leaves the meaning of the blindfold open. Blind trust? Chance? Inner vision? The answer belongs to the collector.
