In contemporary Japanese pop culture, cute depictions of bears are widespread—whether as mascots (yuru-chara) or anime characters, such as Rilakkuma. Here, the bear represents cosiness, light-heartedness, and childlike innocence, providing a strong contrast to traditional symbolism.
